"A chalk"?

Hello~

I want to know if I can say in this way:

The teacher wrote on the blackboard with a chalk.

I know it's better to say "a piece of chalk", but I still want to know if I can say "a chalk".

By the way, I found an expression in my dictionary which says "a box of colored chalks". If that is correct, then "a chalk" may seem reasonable, too.

Please give me your opinion and I'll appreciate it.

Thanks, Clive!

May I ask another question? Is it OK to say "two chalks" or "five chalks"? I know it sounds stupid but I really want to know if it's posiible to say so. Thanks again!

Hi,

No. Say 'Two pieces of chalk'.
