Thank you. Do we really need the modal "do" here for no. 2? I have heard people say "Why they do it?" Do you think it is wrong and has to be "Why do they do it?"
Some more I can think of that do not necessarily have pertinence to the focus of the original post:
Why are they sad?
Why people eat what they eat? -- has to be "Why do people eat what they eat?" Come to think of it
