fivejedjonI don't agree. In speech, intonation and stress can suggest that 'quite good' means 'very good'. Different intonation and stress can make it clear that is not so. In writing, I would use 'quite good' only to mean 'quite/fairly good', which is not as good as .very good'.Note: this is a BrE subtlety that doesn't exist in AmE.
