Quit their career

Hello,

Could I say ‘quit one’s career’ to mean the same as ‘retire’?

E.g. people should quit their career at the age of 65, as it would create ew job opportunities for the youth.

No. They might be starting a new career, even at 65.

_______________________

as it would create new job opportunities for the youth. (I think we more often say 'for young people'.)
