Quietly/Silently

What's wrong? Do you miss your mom?

Katie nods quietly/silently.

Katie is a little sad. Is there one of quietly or silently that would be better to use in that situation?

"silently" seems better. "quietly" can suggest that she made a little noise, though not much, which I think is probably not what you want to say.

I think it is worth pointing out that "Katie nods" is silent already.
