Quiet or silent?

Friend: How is little Beth?

Beth's mom: She's good. And as long as she's staying quiet/silent, mommy is good too.

Two questions about Beth's mom's piece of dialogue:

1) Is good (used two times in the sentence) the word you would have used too?

2) Beth is not crying or screaming as babies do sometimes, would it be better to use quiet or silent?
