Which words do you not understand? I used no idioms. If you cannot understand my sentence, then you should not be pursuing such sophisticated vocabulary as 'quiddity' yet.

My question wasn't regarding the usage of the word. I wanted to know if the word quiddity means peculiar trait or not. I never mentioned that you had used idioms.

Sir, I wanted to know if quiddity is used for peculiar traits because my tutor said the same in class. Doesn't seem to be too much jargon though. Thank you.

Thank you for the site sir. I did refer to the dictionary and the meaning seems to be the essence of something. Yet, my tutor insists that it also means peculiar trait. I would be great if a veteran like you could verify this for me. Thank you again.

'Peculiar' has several meanings. It would match one of these—

3. distinctive in nature or character from others.

4. belonging characteristically (usually followed by to):

an expression peculiar to Canadians.

5. belonging exclusively to some person, group, or thing:

the peculiar properties of a drug.
