Might be a "boy" thing, but one of my French "boys" at the uni ended up missing his assessment the week before last because he had had too much French cheese and ended up being sick and having to go to the doctor's!! Fortunately he could do

Don't you notice how pronouns are easily ambiguous in English? All objects are basically 'its' therefore there is ambiguity whenever you want to use a pronoun for a noun with another 'it noun' in between. Having three genders with the nouns all jumbled up helps matters i

True, but be careful, some French nouns in -age are feminine: cage,

Well, "fromage" does seem to be an alteration of "fourmage" which might come from "formage," and eventually from "formago," but they all mean cheese, as far as I can tell. Compare cheese in Italian, "formaggio."
