Quick Question. (Plz respond ASAP.)

I'm writing a paper for my English class on Beowulf.
Our teacher explained different types of Thesis statements, like Arcetypal and Historical.
Although they're many, she asked us to focus on these two.
The type I picked was a Historical Thesis statement.
I have my thesis statement wrote,

"The epic, Beowulf, doesn't clearly portray the Anglo-Saxon Society.
What was oral tradition became infused with Christian ideals tainting
the original impact of Pagan ideals."

I'm having trouble coming up with what to write afterward,
as far as the opening paragraph goes.

Maybe I should write a sentence or two on the history of the anglo-saxon period?

Any idea's? Comments?

Thank you:]
