Quick question on the use of the word "misuse"

Is a missing apostrophe technically a "misuse" of an apostrophe, or is it just forgetting it?

Well, if it wasn't used at all, it can't have been "misused", technically . But if you loosen the standards of definition a bit, you could probably call the mistaken omission of an apostrophe a misuse. CJ
