Quick question about collocations.

Hi

I see collocations such as, "speed through" or "slam down" or "get along". Is it Okay to make these expressions if you can come up? Or are they more like idiomatic so you can't?

Thanks,

If they are just verb + preposition, however, then you can freely use whatever preposition is appropriate: How do you get along with your sister? -- No change possible, except for 'get on', which has the same meaning.
