Queston on apostrophe placement in the word "brothers"

I need some help. I am confused with the correct placement of the apostrophe in the word brothers when used in this sentence- "I am my brothers keeper" when the word "brothers" equals not my biological brothers, but all of mankind. Thanks so much for the help!

Hi,

The standard form of this saying uses the singular word 'brother' to represent 'everyone'.

Thus, 'I am (not) my brother's keeper'.

Then the Lord said to Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?"
"I know not," he replied. "Am I my brother's keeper?"
