Questions on three example sentences

Hi. Please help.

1. Should it be the "There was" since the item that immediately comes after is in the singular?

There was (were?) prayer, worship services and a lot of singing.

2. It is correct to have the phrase "many kinds of theater," or should the word "theater" be in plural, "many kinds of theaters"?

There were many kinds of theater (theaters") in our neighborhood, eg, multiplex and drive-in.

3. I think we normally have a noun after the phrase "the look of 'something'" (if I am not mistaken), but is it correct to have what looks like an adjective, "built-in"? I believe the adjective "built-in" is for a feature of a kitchen appliance. Thank you for your help in advance.

He liked the look of built-in.
