Questions on this writing

Hi,

I have a few questions on this writing on the Daily Bible.

As 1 John 2:16 says, the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has adn does, come from this sinful world which cause people to be tempted.

1. Why sinful man, and not 'a sinful man'? Is that because the phrase is used to symbolize something about it and not as a phrase in its normal sense?

2. Why cause and not causes?

I also have a question on this sentence. Why is there no article in front the phrase 'new plan' of this partial sentence?

Sinful man - it is talking about all of mankind, not just a single example. Christianity assumes everyone is sinful. The Bible was written a long time ago.
