Questions about two expressions

Hi teachers~

I need your help with two expressions.

I try to remember the expressions (may be idioms or phrasal verbs)but I haven't been able to do it.

1. It describes a situation where people take big interest in sth at first but soon people lose interest and don't talk about it any more.

2. Sb wants to test their foreign lamguage skills and they try it with a native speaker.

I think it goes like..."Why don't you .......... your English on him?"

Thanks a lot~
