Questions about the last sentence

Questions about the last sentence

The passage below is from The Library: A Fragile History by Andrew Pettegree.

This was a significant achievement, yet its success was also its undoing. Planted in areas where the local population were at best indifferent to Protestantism, the libraries were mistrusted as covert Presbyterian enterprises. When Kirkwood died in 1709, the initiative of the library movement died with him, and without further financial contributions from landowners in the Highlands it was difficult to maintain the libraries. By 1730, many Kirkwood libraries had disappeared; two were already lost in 1715, when Jacobite rebels seized and destroyed the libraries at Alness in Ross-shire. The executor of the estate of Thomas Chisholm, the librarian at Kilmorack in Inverness-shire (a predominantly Catholic area), sold the parish books by weight for snuff wrappers. By the early nineteenth century there was barely a trace left of the libraries founded a hundred years earlier.

The last sentence brings up many questions to me.

First, the meaning of ‘executor’. It seems to mean ‘A person who is appointed by a testator to execute the testator's will’. (Am I right?)

Second, the librarian at Kilmorack in Inverness-shire is the executor. (Am I right?)

Third, the meaning of ‘estate’. It seems to mean one's prperty in a will. (Am I right?)

Fourth, do the parish books belong to ‘Thomas Chisholm’ or ‘the librarian’? (I think it’s Chisholm’s. Am I right?)

Fifth, If they don’t belong to either of them, then whose are they?

Sixth, the identity of ‘Thomas Chisholm’. There’s no indication of him in this paragraph and in anywhere else in this book. My wild guess is that he is a Protestant priest at Kilmorack parish in Inverness-shire. (Am I right?) If I am wrong, What is he?

Thanks in advance.
