Spoilers:Why is there salt water in Evelyn Mullray's fish pond?Why does Evelyn Mullray think that Jake is investigating her husband's infedelity when he/her husband is really on an outing with her daughter? (This question is not well-worded). Isn't the daughter an innocent, but how does she get confused as her step-father's mistress?Isn't this the best soundtrack ever? Why is Uan Rasey (sp?) not a household name?

Evelyn knows that Jake's usually hired to investigate infidelities, so she knows/suspects that somebody's setting him up to think that's what he's doing, knowing that what he'll eventually do is unearth the location of Evelyn's sister/daughter/sister/daughter/sister... She's trying to head off the investigation, or rather redirect it toward what her husband was trying to uncover (if I remember it rightly). Evelyn doesn't want to expose Noah for what he did to her because of the shame it would bring on her daughter, but if she can get Jake to finish her husband's investigation, then her father can be brought to justice on at least some charge, making the world safer for her, and exacting at least some measure of revenge.

She doesn't, except in Jake's early, muddled view of things. Evelyn doesn't clear this up because she doesn't want to have to explain the daughter to Jake (or anyone).
