Hello, could someone help me with the following sentence? I need to complete it with tenses, but I am really unsure...
We left the umbrella we _ (to take), just in case, because the weather conditions __ (to seem) (to improve). Unfortunately we were wrong, because the clouds __ (to come) in from the Atlantic __ (to veer) North, and __ (to hit) the hills that we __ (to walk) in. We __ (to get) drenched to the skin. Mind you, the umbrella _ (not to be) of much use anyway.

sure...We left the umbrella we had taken, just in case, because the weather conditions seemed to improve. Unfortunately we were wrong, because the clouds were coming in from the Atlantic veering North, and were hitting the hills that we were walking in. We got drenched to the skin. Mind you, the umbrella would not have been of much use anyway
