Questions

Hello! Here is the sentense "My mother cooked the fish and the children ate it". I need to ask 5 kinds of questions(general, special, alternative, tag and a question to a subject ). But it puzzles me because the sentense has two parts with two subjects. Should I ask a question to the both parts? For example General: Did my mother cook the fish and did the children eat it? Could you please write all the questions for me to understand.
