Question/punctuation

Hello Friends,

I asked him why he didn't love our mother, to which he responded with a curt 'Did you?'

Is the punctuation right? I am assuming 'did you?' is a whole question, so the question mark would come within quotes. But do I also need a period AFTER the question mark and end quote?

Thanks, this is confusing!

No. A full stop, exclamation point or question mark suffices as terminal punctuation no matter what its function within the sentence.
