Does the following sentence require question mark?: "I would like to know why you stopped playing tennis(?)". It doesn't look like a real question to me, but it contains the question word Why. So, I would appreciate any explanations.
Thank you!

It is a statement (" I would like to know.... ") so it does not take a question mark. If it were phrased differently it might need one.
