Question with "fervent"?

Fervent adj. - having or showing very strong and sincere feelings about sth; extremely hot.

E.g. She felt that the fervent praise was excessive and somewhat undeserved.

(Can you explain this sentence? Does it, by any chance, refer to being hot? Or it just refers to the people as having very strong and sincere feelings for her? I'm confused...)

E.g He was moderately humorous in School of Rock, because he was so fervent. (Have the same problem with this one too)
