Question with "deliver"?

Consider this sentence:

More than 200 dedicated reporters and editors in 26 bureaus worldwide deliver a variety of articles of interest to the business and economic community.

"Deliver" means giving a formal speech, lecture, talk, etc. But "article" means "a piece of writing". So how can there be a consonance between the two words in the sentence? Does it mean the reporters and editors gave a formal speech or statements, or does it mean they wrote about the certain topics?

In this situation, "deliver" has a meaning similar to "give". The author is using the word "deliver" because it sounds positive, similar to the idea of giving a gift or service.
