question.. T T

hi.. I'm a beginner for English.

could you let me know .. ^^

"she helped me to solve the difficult problems until it snowed."

until When? Did she help me to solve the difficult problems?

above sentence means ...

1. she didn't help me solve the difficult problems anymore when it started snowing.

2. she helped me solve the difficult problems until shortly before it snowed.

3. Not only she help me to solve the difficult problems before the snow but also helped me solve it even when it was snowing, and then she had stopped helping me solve it before it stopped snowing.

Can above sentence be used to express 1-3 ?

thank you so much .

Fabrico, I think you are being overly analytical here. If I had to pick one of the answers, #3 would be the correct one. I am envision the following.

  • I am envision the following.
  • You are talking to your mother about a nice friend who helped you with the difficult problems.
  • And she really took the time to explain everything to you very thoroughly that by the time she was finished helping you, it had already started snowing.

Aren't there a few mistakes to correct in the sentence?

3. Not only did she help me to solve the difficult problems before the snow but also helped me to (for the sake of balance) solve them even when it was snowing, and then she had stopped helping me to solve

I think it's not possible to know, from the sentence itself, what the intended meaning is here. Each possible interpretation is dependent, not only on the meaning of snowed, but also on the nature of the difficult problems. I think one could come up with a scenario that would make the first snowflake to fall a legitmate cause for stopping to help in solving a problem, or a scenario
