Question regarding semicolon use...

A friend and I are wondering, would it be appropriate to use a semicolon in the following instances:

LA, CA; USA
NY, NY; USA
and et cetera.

I know a comma could also be used in place of the semicolon, but would it be necessarily inappropriate to use the semicolon?

Thanks for your time.

Hi, A semi-colon seems an odd and wrong choice here. It's hard to comment further without knowing how you are using these abbreviations. eg Are you addressing a letter?

Does it seem just odd? Or definitivly wrong? It's to denote location. One could say it's a list of sorts. Los Angeles, California (soft period/semicolon) United States of America.

Hi,

It's definitely wrong.

Just use a comma, as you already have between Los Angeles and California.

Los Angeles and California are locations, and The United States of America is just another location.
