Question on instructios for a listening exercise

Hi teachers,
The statement is from a CD.
According to this statement, "But part of her was thinking, This isn’t happening to me. "
Could this be the appropriate instruction? Write down what she was thinking.
The thing is that the text says 'part of her was thinking'. I just don't know how to include it in the instruction without sounding odd.

Thanks in advance
