Question on definitions. How early / How late.

Hi Teachers,

Could you tell me if these definitions are appropriate? Will it be better to use 'period of time' instead of 'amount of time' for them?

How early introduces questions about the amount of time before the correct or expected time.

How late introduces questions about unpunctuality; about the amount of time after the correct or expected time.

Thanks in advance
