Question on articles

Hello.

Why in the title "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius," 'Staggering Genius' is used without the article 'a' or 'the'?

Isn't 'Genius' used as a being and not as a concept so that 'Genius' is countable?

I'd appreciate your help.

Thank you
