what exactly does parallel structure mean?

is '...the first animated film to use up-to-the-minute techniques and widespread release.' correct then?

placing 'as well as achieving' there doesn't sound weird though.

A parallel structure means that the words that follow are all the same type of words.

It was the first to use something, and the first to achieve something. If you use "achieving" it's not parallel.

Like: I like to sleep, to eat, and swimming. That's not parallel. I like to sleep, to eat, and to swim. That's parallel. Also parallel is I like sleepi
