Question Formation

Hello!
I have come across this exercise in a course book and I am going mad about it...
Students have to write questions based on the information that is given.

HOW LONG/ SPEND/ IN BRAZIL LAST SUMMER

A colleague wrote: how long have you spent in Brazil last summer
Another wrote: how long did you spend in Brazil last summer

And now I am confused because I would have changed it to either: how long did you stay in Brazil Last summer or how much time did you spend in Brazil last summer

reading and listening to these questions that they have written is really bugging me

My question is: Are the questions they wrote correct?
I would prefer to know it is right and that, to me, it just sounds wrong than live forever in doubt.

Thank you!!!
