"For who was the most difficult?" is actually a grammatically correct sentence as it stands, but it requires "for" to have a fairly unusual literary meaning that I'm guessing you didn't intend.

Yes, it's possible. I find "Who found this the most difficult?" slightly more elegant.

Regarding your second question: "Do you think they will/would ever play again?". In my reply I said that you should use "will". In most cases this is true. However, "would" is needed when the sentence is us
