Question about thus and hence.

Hi!

I read about the meaning of the words "thus" and "hence".

I also read in another post that "thus" is old-fashioned.

My question is whether it is acceptable to use these two words in a written formal text.

I was thinking of using "thus" instead of the expression "in this manner"

and "hence" instead of the expression: "for this reason".

Is it OK?

Anonymous I also read in another post that "thus" is old-fashioned. I don't think so; if either, it is 'hence' that is old-fashioned. Is it OK?
