Question about 'Thus'

Hi,

Are both sentences below acceptable?

'I am currently on leave, thus I have no access to my office email.'

'I am currently on leave and thus no access to my office email.'

If they are incorrect, please explain briefly to me.

Thank you.

The second one is no good because a clause is required here after the adverbial 'thus'.

Hi. I think the word "thus" is an adverb.
