Question about the use of 'you guys'

Hi,

When I call a group of my friends, I normally use 'you guys' e.g."hi, guys!, Did you guys know that blah blah blah". But it comes to a group of older people in the street or professors at school or even some kind of meeting with bosses from different companies, isn't it rude to call them 'you guys'? Could you please give me some examples for each of them?.

Thanks.

'Gentlemen' is a good formal alternative: 'Good morning, gentlemen'. 'Thank you for coming, gentlemen'. 'I see you gentlemen are going to the conference, too.'
