Question about 'slur' and 'sloppy'

Hello guys,

1. Sometimes when I speak too fast or I am nervous, I cannot speak quite clearly. Could I say ' My words/speech gets slurred'

2. I heard the word 'sloppy' twice today.
One is in class, professor says 'the equations here may look a little sloppy, but...'
Another one is that ' Team XXX is playing a little bit sloppy, but overall ...'
Does sloppy mean messy and lazy in these two cases respectively? Is sloppy a commonly used word?

Thank you

Hi. I don't hear the word "slur" very often, but it is definitely the right word in that context. I use "mumble", "stutter", and "stammer" quite frequently for that conext, you might want to look them up and learn how to use them properly.

It can mean messy, but not lazy. It indicates something that is not as neat and tidy as it should be. "sloppy" is used fairly often. It's informal.
