The other day I saw a video of a non native English teacher. He said even if we are driving a car for the first time now, we have to say "this is the first time I have driven a car." But this grammar rule is difficult for me to understand. Suppose, I am driving a BMW car now. Can't I say "I am driving a BMW car now." Kindly enlighten me on this.
