Question about sentences

Dear all,

Kindly see the following sentence. I personally feel that "might want to" is not apt in the below sentences. I would like to get your opinion on this.

1) There is a lot of traffic today, so you might want to leave for work early.

2) You might want to take a break.

Thank you.

(1) It's fine. It's a gentle way of saying "Hey stupid, go to work right now or the traffic will make you late, late, late!"

(2) It's fine. It means "Take a break, don't work so hard".
