Question about sentences

Dear all,

Please see the following text. I would like to know why in this text "them" is used instead of "there". I personally feel that "going there" is also apt here. Please advise me on this.

"She liked foreign food and often looked in the newspaper for the names of new restaurants, because she enjoyed going to 'them' and eating new things."

Thank you.

Maybe. I'd say that that choice is borderline. The plural "restaurants" is used earlier in the sentence. This suggests that "them" is appropriate. On the other hand, "there" suggests a single place. I'd leave the sentence as is.
