Please tell me the meaning of the following sentences. In the below sentences what do the portion "nearly lost her life" and "almost had an accident" means.

1) While attempting to save the child from saving, she nearly lost her life. (Has she lost her life? or Was she badly wounded?)

2) He almost had an accident yesterday. (Did an accident take place? or Was he badly wounded/hurt in the accident?)
