Question about sentences

Dear all,

I have recently seen in a grammar book the following sentence is explained as follows.

"Tom cleans the room every day".

It says here "Tom" is the subject, "cleans" is the verb and "room" is the noun.

But as far as I know "room" is the object. Is it a noun too? Kindly tell me whether I am right or not.

Thank you.
