Question about sentences

Dear all,

I would like to know which of the following sentences is correct. I have seen the first sentence in a book. But I think that there is no need to use "lies" here.

1) My sister never tells lies

2) My sister never tells lie.

Thank you.

Top answer

(1) is fine. (2) is incorrect. "lie" is a singular countable noun, so it needs an article or other determiner.
