Question about sentences

Dear all,

I would like to know whether the following sentence is grammatical. I have heard one person said this. What he really meant is, he is going to leave this place this evening itself. (He was telling this this morning). But I don't think that "would have" is possible there. If it is possible, please enlighten me on this.

"I would have left this place by this evening"

Thank you.

You need a hypothetical situation if you want to use 'would have'. eg If I hadn't broken my neck this morning, I would have left this place by this evening.
