Dear all,
I would like to know whether the following sentence is correct. Here my doubt is can we use the word "child", without mentioning me as "son or daughter". Is the word "child" can be used to mention a mature individual.
"My father is paralysed. I have two brothers but they are not in the native. They are living abroad. I am his only child staying with him. So it is my duty and responsibility to look after him".
Thank you.

Why don't you want to mention your relationship to your father?
My father is paralysed. He has three adult children, my two brothers, who are living abroad, and me. So it is my filial duty and responsibility to look after him".
