Question about sentences

Dear all,

I would like to know which of the following sentences is correct.

The ship is going to be sink.

The ship is going to be sunk.

Recently I have seen the second sentence in a grammar book. But it doesn't explain how "sunk" come there. Is it because of the presence of "be"?.
