Question about Santa Claus..:-)

Hey guys,

In one christmas movie I heard....Santa Claus is coming to town! He's making a list, He's checking it twice, Gonna find out who's naughty or nice...:-) Hey that's cool..:-), but what does it mean that his is checking his list twice? Have this a special meaning or it's just a pun ?

I don't believe it has any special meaning. He just wants to be sure who has been a good boy/girl.. It does, on the other hand, rhyme with 'nice'.

checking his list twice = examining the names of the naughty children and the nice children on his list two times, just to be sure that everything on the list is correct.

A related expression: To double-check something = To check it two times = To check it twice.

Poets often something only to make a rhyme possible. I think it's a pretty good choice, here.
