Question about Present Tense

My teacher taught me that whatever time it is, say 10pm, we should use Present Tense for the words Today, This Morning, This Afternoon, This Evening and Tonight. For example,

I eat an egg this morning.
I am happy today.
I shout at him this afternoon.
I see the sunset this evening.
