Question about plural

If I use a possesive form that has more than one person, like their, do the possesions must always in plural form? Their computer/computers?

Top answer

Hi petvnla, This causes problems for people because English doesn't have a solution that applies to all situations. The students sat at their computers vs. The students sat at their computer.

Hi petvnla,

This causes problems for people because English doesn't have a solution that applies to all situations.

The students sat at their computers vs. The students sat at their computer.

The girls all wore their finest hats vs. The girls all wore their finest hat.

In most situations, the plural sounds better to me. We won't think someone sat at two compute
