Question about period placement in initials

Louis Vuitton offers product personalization on most products, such as hot stamping your initials on the leather portions of their merchandise, especially on luggage tags.

For some reason, they only offer the option to place a period in between two letters, but not on the end on any, like so:

Allowed: M.W - or - M.E.W - Not allowed: M.W. - or M.E.W.

Why wouldn't they allow you to put a period after the last initial? I was always under the impression that it was proper to place a period after any initial representing a name? I'd really appreciate it if anyone could clarify this for me. Thanks!

That's what I was thinking too. It just looks so strange to me to see a letter hanging there with no period after it lol
