question about if clause in theses two situations

hello
I really thank you teachers for helping me Emotion: smile
i have a question about if clause

what tenses should I use in theses situations

1- imagine that I have a tree and I haven't watered it.
how could I use if clause in this situation ( it has already dead now )

2- how could I use if clause for actions in that could happen in the future but impossible now

actually I dont know how to use if clause in Present, past or future. and I dunno how to use it when the action is impossible to happen - when the action is impossible to happen - imagination

thanks

For (1), do you mean something like "If I had watered it, it would not have died."?

I don't really understand what you are asking for in (2). "If you water it, it will thrive" is correct English, but I don't know if it is what you want.

If I hadn't neglected to water the tree, it would not have died.
If I had watered the tree, it would not have died.

Larisa Skorik why this sentence is wrong?
I should not watering the tree if I had such an opportunity

It should be:

I would not water the tree (even) if I had such an opportunity.
Or,
I would not water the tree even if I had the chance.

Using the ing ending was wrong, I see. But why I have to use would not? Why not should not. Could I start the sentence from the negative form using should not. "I should not water the tree if I had such an opportunity" Give me the examples from Grammar rules. And where I can find these rules? I mean the source.
