Question about how to express ownership with respect to the people of a generation

I have a grammatical question about the following sentence: “This is true until you realize that these people grew up to invent most of the infrastructure of the world today, so stooping down to their level is basically a disrespect to their ___work.” Would it be more correct to fill the blank with “lives'”, “life's”, or “respective life's”?
